Andy Mineo admits that as a teen, his interest in rap music caused a lot of fights between him and his mother.

“It was a dividing force in our relationship for quite some time,” Mineo said in a recent interview from Atlanta. “There was one point in which she threw a whole sleeve of CDs out. She believed it was having a negative impact on my life.”

“You Can’t Stop Me” won an ESPN Whammy Award for Major League Baseball’s Top Walk Up Song and went certified gold for the Recording Industry Association of America, selling more than 500,000 copies worldwide.
